What a thoughtful question. Here’s a few links worth reading (if ya haven’t already).
Because...
You mean, so that I can clearly explain your business?
I'll answer that— with great precision. Check out Step 1 of my process...
So... did that clear up a lot?
No?
Then I really suck. Leave now while you still can.
Otherwise...
Keep reading to get (even) more clarity about working together.
Most other ‘writers’ use better grammar, syntax, vocabulary and general correctness.
Me? I don’t read much, don’t study the language much, and don’t know the difference between a prepositional phrase and preparation h.
I write numbers (like 7) when they should be spelled out. Same with the ‘%’ sign.
And start sentences with ‘and’. Same with ‘with’. With sentences that are short and crisp.
For these reasons, Hire them, not me, as your writer.

I study psychology more than linguistics. Hire me if you want...
You’ll pay a little more up front. You’ll get a lot more later on. With more highly-qualified leads understanding how you will improve their lives with your services.

Because that’s what usually stalls any project.
I only work a couple of projects at a time. Your needs, your project, your timeline will be my priority.
I’m not one of those creatives who stumbles and fumbles at business. I have a career’s worth of tech, business, and project management skills, results, and experience. And entrepreneurial savvy. You’ll see this from the moment you contact me, to-and-through the end of your project.
So long as you show up.
We’ll create a schedule at the beginning. You’ll know what you’re on the hook for. It’s not much time—just much importance.
“Part of Todd’s process is defining adjectives for the copy & design. Allow me to turn the tables and describe the adjectives for working with Todd: Simple, clear, methodical, nimble, easy, fast, vibrant, creative, business-savvy, thorough, thoughtful, insightful, playful, stylish, impressive and pleasant. Need a message and design to stand tall with pride? That’s what I got. You will too. Hire Todd.”

Mathematically speaking…
More people reading and scrolling your page + more people understanding how you’ll help them = more highly-qualified leads contacting you
Continuing…
Most people will NOT read your entire long-form page. “WTF”, you say?
Stay with me...
I’m not trying to convince anyone to buy your (or my) services. That’s silly, right?
But for the people who already know they want to buy a service like yours… they’re primed for useful information. That’s the segment to capture.
Yet, most business web pages stop short of doing this.
Lazy? Unable? Unwilling? Unknowing? Yup, all that.
But not with us.
How ya like them apples?
How nice. Here's how we can get the best—from each other
From me... | From you... |
Show & share progess daily | Trust the process |
Stay on track with the project | Never go dark |
Always respond promptly | Respond promptly to emails |
Be absolutely straight with you | Ask when confused so I can clarify instantly |
All reasonable stuff, right? So glad you asked.
Ah, another thoughtful response. You’re good.
At the start of our project, I’ll ask you these questions...
Clear questions with clear answers will lead to a clear message.
You'll start, but I’ll chime in right away. You'll be wow-ed with more clarity about your business—than ever before. Otherwise? Fire me on the spot—and I'll refund you fully.
No need for you to be in some ‘ready’ state before we work together. My process will take care of everything from thinking to writing to you blurting out loud, 'hell yeah’.
That’s why I do what I do. And why people hire me over other copywriters. To clearly explain your business on the web—with soul.
I love answering this. Because I have a great answer...
What’s yours? Actually, don’t answer that. If it's like most, it’s probably a long-winded, slew of jargon that makes people roll their eyes and think, “oh brother”. Right? But we’ll change that.
Oh, and my mission... Not that you asked, but...
How's that for clear, real and bold?
Nope.
I don’t do editing for your long-form pages or important copy. It’s more work to bandage a page than write a proper one from the start.
Next question.
Because it’s better when you know up front, what you’ll get and how much it will cost.
No need for either of us to mange anything by the hour. That’s extra work.
If we’re unsure how long something might take there’s other ways for us to work together. I sometimes charge by the day, week, or month. Along with an estimate of how long I think it will take. Again, so you can have a good idea before we start of what you’ll get, when and at what cost.
Dig it? Most do.
Just. Not. Possible.
Brash? No (well maybe).
It’s the lean, software architect, iterate-iterate-iterate in me. I’ve mentioned somewhere on this site a couple-or-three times, about ‘showing and sharing progress daily’.
There’s never (ever) a surprise when it comes to writing or designing your copy or content. We do some healthy thrashing at the beginning to get the voice and tone just right.
Then, it’s all about making small course corrections as we go. Easier to pivot a small ship than turn a large vessel. Working with you iteratively allows us to ‘nail it’- every time.
I’ll refund you.
Yes.
Luckily, search engines now want good, coherent stories, not old-school keyword stuffing.
Just like humans want, too.
Conversational, human powered phrases rank higher than jargon and other non-human-terminology.
It’s about time.
Good for me. Good for you.
